KAVES was initially formed in June 2017, release one single '27' and played a co-headline show with 'Clown Smash Everything' at Norwich's Waterfront venue in November of that year. However, shortly after, the band parted company with vocalist Emily Rudd.
A frustrating 6 months followed, until May 2018, when vocalist Caitlin Mapes contacted the band. 2 days later, following an incredible 'audition', she became the new lead singer of KAVES.
A brand new single was recorded and released shortly after, entitled 'TBT', and this was followed up by second single 'Serotonin', a song Caitlin had originally written as an acoustic track prior to joining the band. Indeed, it was this song the band had found a video of her performing acoustically on Twitter upon her initial contact. and the band subsequently learned the song and performed it together at Caitlin's audition two days later.
This kicked off an intense period of writing, where the musical chemistry of all four members of the band became hugely apparent. The result of one of these writing sessions was the next single 'Grow Up', which, along with Serotonin' enjoyed repeated plays on BBC Introducing in Norfolk show, as well as many other online radio and local radio shows.
2019 saw the band enter the Twisted Melon 'Battle Of The Bands' competition, where they beat very strong competition to end up winners. This secured a spot at 'Festival Too', where the band played to a crowd of 4000 people.
KAVES music is a huge melting pot of styles and genres, incorporating hard rock, ska, disco, dub, and anything else that serves the song. The song is king.
