“Norwich outfit Kaves are back with yet another banging single and I’m starting to think they’ve found themselves a fruitful furrow to plough. Coming in at just over two minutes long, new single ‘Grow Up’ starts with moody, brooding energy before exploding in to an angular, edgy, punky chorus with chants of “grow up, grow up” and it is a joy to behold. The rhythm section is punchy, the guitars cut like a rusty saw through a rusty barrel and the vocals drip like honey on the whole affair. Like I said, another banging single and if you’re not paying attention by now then you really should be.”
“Forthcoming single ‘TBT’ is an absolute belter with the kind of drums and guitar battle that you get on a Foo Fighters track but then, well, then there’s the chorus. Dropping things down so that Caitlin can deliver the cutting line “Who do you think you’re fooling this time?” the band manage to keep the tension under control while those vocals snake and dart around you. This is British rock at its finest, full of power, energy and attitude, so it feels like the line-up change was nothing more than a swerve in the road, the Kaves juggernaut just keeps on rolling. ”
“It’s a punchy blast of gritty alternative rock that rides in on a mighty rumbling wave of powerful drums and slick rooted bass lines. The guitar jaggedly pierces through the catchy melody with a strong ferocity as meaty riffs drive the track pushing it to its manic adrenaline rushing crescendo. It’s a slick lean and mean track from this young band.”
“27 is a brilliant three minute pop song with a chorus that'll stick in your head for days after listening to it but which is anything but throwaway, touching on a whole boat load of influences whilst retaining an original sound and personality all of its own. It's a mightily impressive debut that has us excited about what they'll do next.”
“Sophie played this song last week on her show, and we like it so much, we're playing it on ours this week....”
— BBC Introducing In Norfolk - November 2017
KAVES
KAVES were formed in Norwich in June 2017 after attending a Black Peaks and YONAKA show, where it was seen that music could be exciting and inventive again....from that moment KAVES began creating music that had no rules or parameters, but was purely driven by the song, rather than the song being driven by the parameters.....
The debut single '27' was released on 24th November 2017, and the bands debut live show at The Waterfront in Norwich on 7th December 2017 was a sell out. The tongue in cheek video for the single received 2500 views via Facebook in 2 days, and the song itself got played 2 weeks running on BBC Introducing in Norfolk.
Things didn't work out with the previous singer Emily. But in May of this year, Caitlin Mapes responded to an advert placed online, and she became the voice and front person of KAVES within 2 minutes of her audition, such was the magnitude of the audition.
The band released their brand new single 'TBT' on July 13th 2018, followed by 'Serotonin' , which fast became the bands most popular song, gaining repeat plays on BBC Radio , as well as many online music stations.
In 2019 the band beat very tough competition to win Twisted Melon's 'Battle Of The Bands' competition, which secured a slot at Festival Too, where the band played to a crowd of 4000.
